Poland borders to Germany in the west, Ukraine and Belarus to the east, Lithuania and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad to the north and the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south. The country also has a long coast on the Baltic Sea. The Carpathian Mountains creates a natural border with Slovakia. Polands’ economy’s most important areas in 2012 were wholesale and retail trade, transport, accommodation and food services (26.4 %), industry (24.6 %) and public administration, defence, education, human health and social work activities (13.4 %). Poland’s main partners for export are Germany, the UK and the Czech Republic. Import however is mainly through Germany, Russia and the Netherlands.
